What prayers should be read on the night of baraat. Worships performed on the night of Baraat. What duas are read in Laylatul-Baraat

The night from the 15th to the 16th of Sha'ban (according to some sources, the night from the 14th to the 15th) is called the night of Baraat. "Baraat" means "non-involvement", "complete separation"; on this night, people with bad deeds are completely separated (excommunicated) from Heaven, and people with good deeds are completely separated from Hell.

On the night of Baraat, the Archangel Gabriel appeared to our Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and woke him up. When the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) asked what kind of night this was, he replied that it was the night of Baraat - the night when three hundred gates of the Grace of the Almighty open for the ummah (community of followers) of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). The night when the Almighty answers the prayers (dua) of His servants who humbly pray.

The hadiths say that on this night the sins of all people are forgiven except apostates, envious people, slanderers, sorcerers, fortune tellers, those who constantly drink alcohol, those who have broken ties with relatives, those who disobey their parents, adulterers, the proud and those who provoke unrest. Therefore, it is advisable to spend this night in prayer and remembrance of the Almighty. One hadith says that there are five nights on which dua (prayer-supplication) is accepted: the night of Friday, the tenth night of Muharram, the 15th night of Sha'ban, the nights before the holidays of Kurban Bayram and Eid al-Adha. On this night, the names of those who will die over the years are erased from the Kept Tablets.

On the night of Baraat, Surah Yasin is read three times: the first time with the intention of prolonging life and the second time to protect against troubles and misfortunes and the third time to expand benefits.

After each reading of “Yasin”, the following prayer is read (if you read the prayer only for yourself (i.e. in the singular), then the words enclosed in brackets are not pronounced):

Translation:

“In the name of Allah, Merciful to everyone in this world and in the next world only to those who believe!
O Allah, O Possessor of Grace, who does not need the mercy of others, O Possessor of Greatness and Generosity, O Possessor of all blessings! There is no god to be worshiped but You.

You help those who ask You for help, You protect those who ask You for protection, those in danger resort to You, You are the safety of those who strive for this. If You have written me (us) in the mother of books [the Preserved Tablet] as lost (and), deprived (and), exiled (and), poor (and), O Allah, by Your mercy erase the record of my (our) error, deprivation , exile, poverty, and write me (us) in the Preserved Tablet among the well-behaved, those to whom benefits are extended and who are favored in performing good deeds.

You said in Your Book, revealed in the language of the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him), and Your word is true: Allah erases what He wants and leaves what He wants, and with Allah is the Preserved Tablet.
O Allah! In the name of the manifestation of Your Greatest Grace on the middle night of Shaban, take away from me (us) the troubles that I (we) know about and that I do not know about. You are Great and Generous.

Allah's blessings and peace [welfare] upon our lord Muhammad, his family [community] and companions.”

On the eve of the blessed night of Baraat, before sunset, it is advisable for believers to read the following dua 40 times: “Subhanallahi wal-hamdulillahi wa la ilaha illallahu wallahu akbar wa la havla wa la quwvata illya billahil galiyil gazim.”

Then you need to read salawat to the Prophet Muhammad (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) 100 times. And after the obligatory evening prayer, you should perform six rakats of nafil prayer, performing two rakats separately. Then it is advisable to read Surah Yasin with the above intentions.

After completing the reading of Surah Yasin, it is advisable to read the dua: “In the name of Allah, Most Merciful to everyone in this world and in the next world only to those who believe! If You have written me in the mother of books [the Preserved Tablet] as lost, deprived, exiled, poor, O Allah, by Your grace, erase the record of my delusion, deprivation, exile, poverty and write me in the Preserved Tablet among the good ones, those to whom are given benefits and who is favored in performing good deeds. You said in Your Book, revealed in the language of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), and Your word is true: Allah erases what He wants and leaves what He wants, and with Allah is the Preserved Tablet. Oh Allah! In the name of the manifestation of Your Greatest Grace on the middle night of Shaban, take away from me the troubles that I know and that I do not know about. You are Great and Generous. Allah's blessings and peace [welfare] upon the Prophet Muhammad, his family [community] and companions.”

The dua of the Prophet Muhammad (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) is known, which he read that night: “O Allah! I resort to Your forgiveness from torment, to Your pleasure from Your wrath. I am powerless to praise You sufficiently. You are as Great as You have praised Yourself.”

Here is another dua that the Messenger of the Almighty (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) read on the night of Baraat: “Oh, Allah! I take refuge in Your pleasure from Your wrath. And I seek Your forgiveness from Your punishment. And I take refuge in You from You. I am powerless to give you the praise you deserve. You are as great as You have praised yourself” (at-Targhib wat-Tarhib).

It is reported that some spiritual mentors made the following dua that night: “Oh, Allah! If You have written my name in the book of the happy, then leave it there. If You have written my name in the book of the unfortunate, then erase it from there. Since You said: « Allah abolishes and confirms whatever He wills, and with Him is preserved the essence of the book.”(Sura “ar-Rad”, 13/39; “Majmuatul-Ahzab”).

All companies, big and small, sum up their results once a year. They calculate profits and losses, analyze achievements and make plans for the next year. A believer also needs a similar analysis of his spiritual state, and by grace Supreme Creator, this time falls on three sacred months, and Night of Bara'at is the starting point. This year Bar'at Night is expected on the night of May 21-22.

In the Holy Quran, Allah Almighty said:

وَالْكِتَابِ الْمُبِينِ
إِنَّا أَنزَلْنَاهُ فِي لَيْلَةٍ مُّبَارَكَةٍ إِنَّا كُنَّا مُنذِرِينَ
فِيهَا يُفْرَقُ كُلُّ أَمْرٍ حَكِيمٍ

“By the clear Scripture! We sent it down on a blessed night, and We warn. All wise matters are decided in it.”(Surah ad-Dukhan, verses 2-4).

There are different opinions regarding these verses. And if some scholars associate their meaning with Lailatul-Qadr, that is, with the Night of Prediction, then Ikrima (may Allah be pleased with him) and a number of other theologians are sure that these verses are talking about Bara’at. Others, combining these two opinions into one, are of the opinion that the “decision of wise deeds” mentioned in the verse begins directly on the Night of Bara’at and ends on the Night of Predestination.

According to legend from Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him), the concept of “solving wise deeds” includes the following actions: angels write down everything that will happen over the next year. The book with the definition of food will be handed over to the angel Mikael (peace be upon him), with the predestination of wars to Jabrail (peace be upon him), the book with troubles and the predestination of death will be handed over to the angel Azrael (peace be upon him), and everything connected with the deeds will be handed over to Israfil (peace be upon him). .

On the night of Bara'at Holy Quran was completely sent down to the heavens of this world, and on the Night of Destiny, the first verses were revealed to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him).

night Baraat

Translated from Arabic "Bara'at" means justification, forgiveness and purification. That is, the night when Allah Almighty, with his boundless Mercy, forgives a person his sins and mistakes, cleansing him of spiritual negativity.

According to some scholars, the command of Allah Almighty to transfer the qibla for Muslims from Majida-Aqsa to the Kaaba was sent down in the second year of the Hijra just on the night of Bara’at.

Night Bara'at has five main features:

  • On this night all wise matters are decided.
  • Worships and prayers performed on this night bring much more savab in comparison with those performed on other ordinary nights, and are considered more beneficial.
  • This night The mercy of the Almighty Creator encircles the entire Universe.
  • Allah, who has boundless Mercy, forgives many sins and mistakes on this night.
  • And it was on the night of Bara’at Messenger of Allah(peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) received every right to be intercessor for Muslim believers on the Day of Judgment.

According to legend, on the thirteenth night of the month of Sha'ban, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) was granted the right to intercede for Muslims and was given one third of it, on the fourteenth night another third, and on the fifteenth night He was granted full right to express his Ummah Shafaat on the Day of Judgment.

The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) commanded his ummah as follows:

« Spend the fifteenth night of the month of Sha'ban awake and in worship, and fast during the day. After sunset on this day, Allah will descend to the heavens and say: “Is there anyone who asks for forgiveness, and I will forgive him. Is there anyone who asks for food, and I will give him food. Is there someone who has suffered misfortune so that I can grant him health and peace of mind?” This will continue until dawn"(Ibni Majah, Iqama, 191).

In other words and in more modern language, Allah Almighty grants on this night a unique opportunity to earn forgiveness for sins, earn multiple amounts of sawab and receive benefits from the Creator, getting rid of all misfortunes and adversities. However, the Lord requires a little diligence from his slave, and asks him to spend the night in worship, and not just so that he, relying on boundless Grace and Mercy and citing fatigue, goes to sleep sweetly.

However, not all people will be able to receive forgiveness on this night. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said:

« Undoubtedly, on the fifteenth night of the month of Sha'ban, everything will be filled with the mercy of the Almighty Creator, and will show His Forgiveness to all His creations. However, polytheists and those who harbor enmity in their hearts towards other people are exceptions to this».

In another hadith, the Messenger of Allah listed the following categories of people who will not receive Allah's forgiveness on this night:

« On this night, the Almighty grants forgiveness to all Muslims, with the exception of sorcerers, soothsayers, envious people who have a weakness for alcohol, disobedience to parents and who continue to be zealous in adultery” (At-Targhib wa Tarhib, 2:118). The Blessed Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) paid special attention to those who disobey their parents: “On the fifteenth night of the month of Sha’ban, Almighty Allah will show mercy to everyone and forgive everyone, except those who disobey their parents and associate partners with the Almighty"(Ibni Majah, Iqamatu - Salat, 191; Tirmidhi, Saum, 38).

According to legend, on this night the value of good deeds increases not only several times, but several thousand times. So if, for example, for reading the Holy Quran on a regular night a Muslim can receive ten sawabs for each letter, then on the night of Bara’at for the same thing he will be credited with twenty thousand sawabs. And the diligence shown on this night in terms of prayers and worship can bring a person a reward, as much as he would have received in about fifty thousand years of ordinary worship.

Based on the peculiarities of this night, it is considered desirable on this night to read the Holy Quran, perform prayers, dhikr (remembrance of Allah), pleas for forgiveness for sins committed, helping those in need and other good deeds.

Although Imam Ghazali in his work “Al-Ihya” considers the recitation of one hundred rak’ats of prayer to be sunnah, most hadith scholars are inclined to assume that this prayer was first read in Jerusalem, presumably only in the 400s AH.

On the night of Baraat is performed prayer of one hundred rak'ahs. This prayer is called " salatul-khair" The person performing this prayer gives salam after every two rak'ahs. In every rak'at of this prayer, after the surah al-Fatiha, Surah al-Ikhlas is read ten times.

It is reported that the Messenger of Allah (sallallaahu alayhi wa sallam) said: “Allah will look seventy times at the one who performs this prayer on this night. And at every glance He will satisfy seventy of his needs and needs, the least of which will be the need for forgiveness” (Ibn Majah).

In addition, this prayer can be performed in ten rak'ahs. In this case, after Surah al-Fatihah, Surah al-Ikhlas is read a hundred times. And also after every two rakyats it is given salam.

For those who have prayer debts, we can advise instead of this prayer, commit one hundred rak'ahs of previously missed prayers.

It is reported that the Messenger of Allah (sallallaahu alayhi wa sallam) said: “ Allah will send one hundred angels to the one who performs one hundred rak'ahs of prayer on this night. Thirty of them will delight him with Paradise; thirty of them will assure him that he is delivered from Hell; thirty of them will deliver him from worldly troubles; and ten of them will deliver him from the traps and instigations of the shaitan».

Dua, read on the night of Baraat:

That night, the Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam), turning to Allah, made the following dua:

« Oh Allah! I take refuge in Your pleasure, from Your wrath. And I seek Your forgiveness from Your punishment. And I take refuge in You from You. I am powerless to give you the praise you deserve. You are only as great as you say you are"(at-Targhib wat-Tarhib).

It is reported that some spiritual mentors made the following dua that night:

« Oh Allah! If You have written my name in the book of the happy, then leave it there. If You have written my name in the book of the unfortunate, then erase it from there. Since You said: “Allah erases and confirms what He wills, and with Him is the Mother of Scripture"(ar-Rad 13/39)" (Majmuatul-Ahzab).

Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said: “The month of Rajab is superior to other months just as the Quran is superior to the speech of people. The superiority of the month of Sha'ban compared to other months is the same as my superiority compared to other prophets. And the superiority of Ramadan is equal to the superiority of Allah compared to His creations.” The month of Rajab is considered the month of forgiveness and mercy, Sha'ban is the month of purification and spirituality, and Ramadan is the month of acquiring benefits. They say that in the month of Rajab, seeds are thrown into the ground, that is, a person repents. They are watered on Sha'ban, that is, after performing tawbu, a person commits good deeds. And in the month of Ramadan, the harvest is harvested, that is, after repentance and doing good deeds, a person is cleansed of sins and achieves greater degrees of perfection. These three holy months (Rajab, Shaaban, Ramadan) are given to us as the Grace of the Almighty.

The month of Sha'ban is significant on the night from the 14th to the 15th, called the Night of Baraat (in Arabic "Laylat-ul-Baraat"). This is a desirable night for any Muslim, a night when prayer is accepted, when believers in the One Creator completely devote themselves to worshiping Him. Baraat in Arabic means “non-involvement”, “complete separation”, “purification”. On this night, sinners are excommunicated from Paradise, and the righteous are excommunicated from the flames of Hell. The Almighty revealed the night of Baraat because it is the night of judgment and predestination, the night of anger and contentment, the night of acceptance and rejection, the night of achieving and retaining good deeds, the night of happiness and misfortune, the night of mercy and goodness. Some people become happy this night, while others move away from mercy, some receive rewards, they are exalted, while others are humiliated and deprived of forgiveness.

Imam Subuki writes in his tafsir: “Truly, this night washes away the sins of the whole year, and Friday night washes away the sins of the week, and the Night of Destiny (Laylat-ul-Qadr) washes away the sins of the whole life,” i.e. the revival of these nights is the reason for washing away sins, and therefore the Night of Baraat is called night of washing away sins. In addition, she is called night life because of the hadith that Munziriy transmitted from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): “The heart of the one who revives the festive night and the night of the middle of the month of Sha'ban will not die on the day of death of hearts.” This night is also called night of intercession because of what was reported: “Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) asked the Almighty on the 13th night for intercession for his ummah, and Allah gave him intercession for only three. Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) asked for intercession on the 14th night, and the Almighty gave him intercession for 30, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) asked on the 15th night and the Almighty gave him intercession for the entire ummah, except those who has run away from Allah, just as a camel runs away” (one who has distanced himself from Allah by constantly committing sins). The night of Baraat is called night of forgiveness because of the hadith narrated by Imam Ahmad, in which the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) says: “Verily, the Almighty turns on the night of the middle of the month of Sha'ban to His servants and forgives all the inhabitants of the earth, except the polytheist and the person who quarreled with his brother or holds anger and hatred towards him in his heart.” This night is also called liberation night because of the hadith that was narrated from Ibn Ishaq and from Anas ibn Malik, where Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) reports the words of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): “O Aisha, don’t you know that this night is the night mid-Sha'ban? Truly, this night Allah frees His slaves from Hell according to the number of hairs in the wool of the sheep of the Banu Kalb tribe, except for the types of people who constantly use intoxicants, who disobey their parents and bring harm to them, who are constant in the sin of adultery, who interrupt family and friendly relations, who sow confusion and slander.” . In addition to all of the above, this night is called night distribution because of the hadith narrated by Ata ibn Yasar: “When the night of the middle of Sha'ban comes, everyone who dies from Sha'ban to the next Sha'ban is written down for the angel of death. Verily, a servant of Allah plants a tree, marries, builds a house, and his name is recorded among the dead, and the angel of death does not await him, unless he (the angel) is ordered to take his soul.”

Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said the following: “As soon as night falls in the middle of the month of Sha'ban, spend it in worship, and fast during the day (the next day). Indeed, on this night, starting from sunset, Allah sends His mercy to the firmament of the earth and commands: “If there are those who repent before Me, I will forgive them; if there are those who ask for good, I will give them; if there are those afflicted with illness, I will send down recovery.” . And this continues until the morning.” In the middle of the month of Sha'ban, Allah forgives everyone except polytheists, those who are angry, break off relations with relatives, show arrogance and contradict parents, drink alcohol, commit adultery, provoke unrest or apostate from Islam, as well as slanderers. Allah accepts repentance on the Night of Baraat and does not spare His mercy and forgiveness for those who sincerely worship Him and ask Him for forgiveness. It is enough that a Muslim turned to Him with repentance and prayer. The main thing is sincerity. On this sacred night of forgiveness, Muslims must turn with all their souls to the Almighty, ask Him to accept good deeds and forgive sins. The most important thing is to reconsider your life, actions, thoughts on this night. On this night, all believers must renounce anger, enmity, pride and disobedience to their parents with the intention of never returning to them. Otherwise, all this will distance us from barakat (grace) and the value of Laylat-ul-Baraat. One should try to spend the Holy Night of Baraat in ibadat, performing prayers, reading the Koran, making dua, visiting elders, especially honoring parents in order to receive blessings from them. Also in Lailat-ul-Baraat it is recommended to remember and wish mercy, forgiveness, prosperity to deceased Muslims and tell children about the dignity and value of this night.

Dua on the night of Baraat

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) read the dua that night: “O Allah! I resort to Your forgiveness from torment, to Your pleasure from Your wrath. I am powerless to praise You sufficiently. You are as Great as You have praised Yourself.”

“Indeed, in the creation of the heavens and the earth, in the alternation of night and day, in the [creation of] a ship that floats on the sea with goods useful to people, in the rain that Allah caused to fall from the sky, and then revived its dry land and settled on it all kinds of animals, in the changing winds, in the clouds, submissive [to the will of Allah] between heaven and earth - in all this are signs for intelligent people.” (2/164)

“Will you really call people to virtue, consigning your [deeds] to oblivion, because you [yourself] know how to read Scripture? Don't you want to think about it? Seek help in trust in Allah and prayer ritual. Truly, salat (namaz) is a heavy burden [for everyone] except the humble..." (2/44,45)

“Do not confuse truths with lies, do not hide the truth if you know it. Make salat, perform sunset, and kneel with those who kneel.” (2/42.43)

“Remember the favor I showed you. Be faithful to the covenant that [you] made to Me, and I will be faithful to the covenant that I made to you. And only fear Me. “Our Lord! You embrace all things with grace and knowledge. Forgive those who repented and stepped on Your path, and protect them from the punishment of hell. Our Lord! Lead them into the gardens of paradise that You promised them, as well as the righteous among their fathers, spouses and descendants. Truly, You are great and wise. "Oh my God! Grant my city security and protect me and my sons from idol worship. God! Indeed, they have led many people astray. Whoever follows me [from my descendants] is mine [by faith], and if anyone disobeys me, then You are the Forgiving, the Merciful.” (14/35,36)

“Indeed, in the creation of the heavens and the earth, in the alternation of day and night, there are true signs for those who have understanding, who remember Allah standing, and sitting, and [lying] on their sides and reflect on the creation of the heavens and the earth [and say]: “Our Lord “You did not do all this in vain. “Our Lord! Grant us goodness in this world and in the future and save us from the torment of fire.” (2/201)

“Our Lord! Send to our descendants a messenger from among them, who will tell them Your signs, teach them the Scripture and [divine] wisdom, and cleanse them [from filth], for You are great and wise.” (2/129)

“Our Lord! Make us devoted to You, and from our descendants - a community devoted to You, and show us the rites of worship. Accept our repentance, for truly You are forgiving and merciful.” (2/128)

“Our Lord! Accept from us [righteous deeds and supplications], for You, truly, are the Hearing, the Knowing.” (2/127)

... "God! Make this country safe and give fruits to those of its inhabitants who believe in Allah and the Day of Judgment.” (2/126)
