Having visited Betta, I realized that the pearl of this resort is the embankment. It is well landscaped and has a well-developed adjacent infrastructure. The embankment is very wide and is about half a kilometer long. It is made of colored paving stones and has snow-white carved stone fences from the beach. Along the perimeter of the entire embankment and the streets leading onto it there are many canteens and cafes, shops with beach goods, souvenirs and products. Geography

The Betta farm is located on the coast of the Black Sea, at the mouth of the Betta River of the same name. Located 18 km south of the center of the rural district - Pshady and 48 km southeast of the city of Gelendzhik.

It borders on the lands of settlements: Krinitsa in the west and Arkhipo-Osipovka in the east. However, due to the fact that the farm is the final station of the road, there is no direct road to Arkhipo-Osipovka and from Betta you can only get there through Pshada or on foot along the coast and through the mountains.

The terrain is mountainous and hilly with many gorges and very rough terrain. The average altitude on the territory of the farm is about 45 meters above sea level. In the vicinity of the settlement, the highest point is Mount Ararat (350 m), located northeast of the village. Cape Chugovkopas is located at the western outskirts of the settlement.

In addition to the Betta River gorge, in the village there are several smaller rivers that flow into the Betta - Drobinskaya Shchel, Levaya Shchel, Pravaya Shchel, etc. They are narrow, remote gorges where rich flora and fauna are observed.

The climate is warm, with pronounced features of a Mediterranean climate with mild winters and warm summers. The average annual air temperature is about +13.0°C, with an average July temperature of about +23.5°C and January about +3.0°C. The water temperature during the swimming season is +22…+29°С. The average annual precipitation is about 1000 mm. In winter, there is virtually no sense of boron here, which sometimes disturbs Novorossiysk and Gelendzhik.

Etymology

The toponym is based on the Adyghe word bete, which translated means “humpbacked” or “many humps.” According to another version, the name of the toponym may contain an Adyghe family surname - Bete.

After the deportation of the aboriginal Adyghe population, the Greeks who settled here at the end of the 19th century renamed the name of the area to a form convenient for themselves - Betta.

Story

In 1895, eight versts from the village of Beregovaya, on the state lands of the Ministry of State Property, namely on the quitrent clause Beta, a peasant community (artel) of Russian settlers was organized: from four families from the Oryol province, one from the Kyiv province, three from the Kursk province, one family from Chernigov province and three Black Sea provinces. These migrant families, as annual tenants, occupied an area called “Wide Gap.” According to the testimony of Gelendzhik police officials and the local press of the late 19th century, Betta was founded by undocumented miners who arrived south from the central and southern provinces of Russia in the hope of finding casual work in these places.

On October 1, 1900, the artel, which had existed for five years, was divided into separate families. Thanks to private assistance, the settlers began to build. The public house was intended for a school when the village was formed. In the 1900s, each family was allocated land plots of 13.08 hectares by the Ministry of Agriculture and State Property. From Betta to Krinitsa, ten cultural areas were cut out, where construction began. At the same time, construction of the road to Krinitsa was carried out.

In 1917, the village of Betta was part of the Novorossiysk district of the Black Sea province.

On January 26, 1923, the Betta farm was part of the Gelendzhik district of the Black Sea district.

In 1937-1943, the Betta farm was part of the Beregovaya Village Council of the Gelendzhik District of the Krasnodar Territory.

In 1955, the Betta farm was transferred to the Pshad Village Council of the Gelendzhik district of the Krasnodar Territory.

On September 1, 1964, the Betta farm was part of the Pshadsky village council of the Tuapse district of the Krasnodar region.

In 1968-1988, the Betta farm was part of the Pshad Village Council of the Gelendzhik City Council of the Krasnodar Territory.

Since March 10, 2004, the Betta farm has been part of the Pshad rural district of the municipality of the resort city of Gelendzhik

The Caucasus remains in the memory of many as a narrow strip of rocky beach, pinched between the sea and the railroad bed. Trains roaring past give the impression of being in a busy train station rather than the welcome solitude of a coastal paradise.

The wild beach, a half-hour walk west of the resort, is popular with nudists.

Betta Hotels

In terms of variety of accommodation facilities, little Betta is not inferior to the leaders of resort holidays - there are boarding houses and recreation centers, guest houses and mini-hotels, apartments and, of course, the private sector. The only thing that is missing here is the “star” classification of hotels. You can rent a modest room in the private sector 10-15 minutes from the sea, even at the peak of the season, for 500-600 RUB per day. This option is especially in demand among residents of the Krasnodar Territory who come for the weekend. Sometimes their neighborhood may seem too noisy.

A double room in a guest house, recreation center or mini-hotel, depending on the level of comfort, proximity to the sea, availability of a swimming pool, kitchen and other amenities, costs from 1000 to 4000 RUB per night. What to bring

Local craftsmen make all kinds of souvenirs from the fragrant juniper - boxes, combs, coasters.

The local wines with half-forgotten names from Soviet times are very tempting: “Black Eyes”, “Southern Night”, “Smile”, “Amber Muscat”. It is best to buy them in the Vina Kuban chain stores. Price 200-500 RUB per bottle. The main thing is to find the words “natural wine” on the label. Its absence is a sure sign that the drink is made from powder or concentrate.

Cafes and restaurants Betta

Local chefs treat vacationers to familiar dishes of Russian and Caucasian cuisine - borscht, solyanka, kebabs, pancakes, pork chops, tobacco chicken and dumplings. The main catering forces are concentrated on the Central Beach and Podgornaya Street leading to it.

Betta's only restaurant, Sugdeya, pleases with its pleasant interior, live music and good cuisine. Cafes “Parus” and “Flagman” are good to come with children. For lovers of meat on skewers, we can recommend “Shashlik Dvor”. Establishments with nostalgic names “USSR Canteen”, “Canteen No. 1” and the like captivate with their affordable prices. Soups cost 70-120 RUB, the price of meat dishes is 80-130 RUB per 100 grams. For those who like to party, a disco is held in the Betta cafe in the evenings.

A good dinner with wine at the Sugdeya restaurant will cost 700-900 RUB, lunch in a cafe - 300-500 RUB, set lunch in the dining room - 200-300 RUB.

Local fast food is represented by street stalls with fresh baked goods, whites and hot dogs. Those who buy vouchers with paid meals should take into account that catering establishments in boarding houses and holiday homes in Betta have remained classic canteens of Soviet times.

Entertainment and attractions

The best panorama of Betta can be seen from the observation deck at Cape Chugovas in the western part of the resort. On clear days you can even see the snowy peaks of the Caucasus from here.

Once a year, at the beginning of summer, an interesting natural phenomenon occurs here - bright butterflies emerge from pupae in the nearby forests. Hundreds of thousands of them fly to the sea, lose strength and, sinking into the water, die. In August, another unusual phenomenon occurs - the night glow of the sea. The reason for this is the mass reproduction of the unicellular algae “nightlight” - an integral part of the Black Sea plankton.

A trip along the Pshada River valley, where dolmens are preserved - monuments of megalithic culture, made of large stone slabs approximately 3-2 millennium BC, will bring a lot of impressions to lovers of active recreation. e. There are many versions of the origin of these mysterious structures, but the opinions of scientists and modern lovers of esotericism differ radically. Already in our time, some of them have received their own names: “Thor”, “Tenderness”, “Creativity”, “Khan”.

The starting point for hiking in the valley is the village

Near the farm, 10 km away, there is Translated from Adyghe - Betta means humpbacked, perhaps the settlement was named so because Betta is surrounded by mountains dotted with gorges, Right, Left gap and others. The second version of the origin of the name of the farm suggests from the Greek Beta - two, since the farm is located on two rivers flowing into the Black Sea. The population of the farm is no more than 1000 people.

Families with children prefer to relax in the Betta farm , because it is quiet and calm here, beautiful nature and despite the fact that it is not on the shore of the bay, but in front of the open waters of the sea, the slope to the sea is gentle, which allows you to relax with children. Betta is located in an area with rich vegetation, Crimean and Pitsunda pines, thickets of mackerel, dogwood groves, thuja, evergreen cypress, juniper, spruce, acacia, jasmine, magnolia, so there is fragrant, clean and healing air. In some courtyards there are palm trees, persimmons, figs, pomegranates, and also traditional Kuban trees, apricots, peaches, cherries, plums, cherries, walnuts, and hazelnuts. Agriculture is the main direction of industry in the farmstead and there are no industries here that could adversely affect environmental conditions. Here, if you are lucky, you will be able to observe a variety of fauna - ordinary forest hares, foxes, wild boars, tamed raccoons. There are many large turtles and squirrels here.
